Let me start by asking you a question, what happens when you start to meditate. You sit uptightly, relax your body completely, maybe play a piece of soothing music, throw your breath out and relax. 

But just as you close your eyes and try to enter the correct headspace, your mind starts to wander off. All the agenda of the day you missed keeps coming up, the side bulges you have on your handles become a matter of concern, and you start questioning your reality and everything around you. 

It’s true, many people try meditation nowadays. But their main issue is that they can’t keep their minds still. They are unable to quit thinking no matter how hard they try. Why does this happen, have you wondered? 

There are many reasons to why this happens, and one of the most prominent ones is that some of us are busy. We have a lot of demands on our time from various parts of our lives, and we don’t feel like we have time to stop and smell the roses even. We’re wondering if the rose perfume is available in a take-out container.

But the actual reason is that there is a distance between you and the activity of your mind. Mind is never a problem. In fact, it took millions of years for our mind to be evolved at this stage, in reality, our mind is a miracle. So why do you want to stop it? 

For a minute, consider your mind producing absolute pleasantness for you, will you still want to stop it? Our mind is never a problem. The problem is the distance between us and our minds.

Your mind is a miracle. It is a miracle that has stepped up its game from the dawn of civilisation. Not only this but every minute, every second, with every individual it is evermore evolving.

Treating your mind as though it were a best friend necessitates approaching it with a kind, engaging attitude: “Hey buddy!” Do you want to start meditating right now? What would you like to see? How would you like to sit? “You tell me how long it will take.” 

When you treat your mind with kindness, it is less likely to wander off. It enjoys being in your company. You spend significantly more time together, cooling out than you ever planned.

So, just be friends with your mind. Treat it like you would treat your friend and then just discover the difference.

Our minds are reactive and unpredictable, and we can’t always control them, therefore some individuals practice mindfulness. 

Mindfulness is all about cultivating a sense of being in the present moment, without evaluating something or anything at all. Kindfulness is the amalgamation of the two: mindfulness and kindness. Kindfulness is a new twist on mindfulness. It is the latest approach to meditation that integrates KINDNESS TO MINDFULNESS to result in “KINDFULNESS”. 

Relaxation is a result of kindness. It relaxes the body, the mind, and the entire world. Kindness makes it possible for healing to take place. When you have adequate kindfulness, peace, and wisdom, you see a whole series of life. You know where anger, guilt, anxiety, depression, and fear come from and how they develop within you.

Kindness not only makes you conscious of your thoughts but also changes your relationship with your mind. You learn to become friends with your mind and, as a result, you learn to pay attention to this pleasant, kind approach.

So, don’t just be mindful, but also kindful!

Kindfulness serves to remind us to be accepting and friendly towards ourselves and others as we progress along with our present state awareness practice.

Mindfulness without kindness, in my opinion, is as dry as a prune; it also becomes chilly and dull. I can’t imagine being compassionate without being conscious. How can you be good to someone if you have no idea who you’re attempting to be nice to?

How To Practice Kindfulness Meditation?

Let Go

Giving up the baggage of the past and future is the first step toward kindness. Allow yourself to be free of the worries, perceptions, and beliefs that confine you and prevent you from acquiring the peace that comes from letting go. Release every part of your history, even the memory of what happened just a couple of minutes ago. 

Meditation keeps your attention completely focused on the present now, to the point where you have no idea what day or time it is.  You only know what time it is right now. As a result, you arrive at this beautiful “monastery moment,” in which you are simply meditating in the present now. It’s as though you’ve come alive when you’ve let go of the past and the future. You’ve arrived. You are aware of your surroundings. This is the initial stage of meditation, where the focus is solely on the present moment.

Step Into Present Moment Awareness

Developing a tuned present-moment awareness is an effective way to overcome inner commentary. You are so focused on every detail that you just do not have time to comment on what has just occurred.

To expand on this metaphor, imagine your mind as a host at a party, greeting people as they enter. If one guest enters and you begin conversing with them and you fail to fulfill your responsibility of paying attention to each guest who enters. Because a visitor enters the door at any time, you must welcome each one before moving on to the next. You can’t afford to have even the briefest chat with any of your guests because you’ll miss the one who comes in next. In meditation, events enter the mind one by one through the doors of our senses.

Focus On One Aspect

Fixing one’s focus on a single object entails letting go of mental diversity and embracing its polar opposite, unity. The sensation of calm, happiness, and power develops substantially when the mind begins to unite and sustain attention on just one subject. When you focus on your breath, you focus on the experience of the breath happening now. You become aware of the breath’s movement, whether it is coming in, going out, or somewhere in between. Incorporate kindness into your breathing meditation. With loving kindness, observe your breath.

Attain Unity

Extend your awareness to take in each and every minute of the breath. Seek to obtain unity of mind, the unity in the moment, and the unity in stillness. 

The breath will begin to vanish if we merely maintain this unity of consciousness by not meddling. As the mind concentrates on what is at the center of the breath experience, which is magnificent serenity, freedom, and happiness, the breath appears to drift away.

Walking The Path Of Kindfulness

Walking the trail of kindfulness doesn’t mean having no thoughts, but instead having thoughts of renunciation, kindness, and compassion toward all beings — including yourself. It’s because you’ve cultivated these three types of “correct thought” that your heart feels free. 

Please keep in mind what wisdom is when practicing kindness. It must be a wisdom practice if it leads to well-being, tranquillity, happiness, peace, and freedom.

However, if you produce undesirable qualities, you’re on the incorrect track and aren’t practicing wisely. So look into it – figure out what you’re on the wrong track for, and don’t go there again.

This is the way to go. It’s not difficult to follow. You’ve got the knowledge; put them to good use. You already have some mindfulness, so build on it. You have a natural kindness within of you; cultivate it. You’ve got what it takes to follow the road of kindfulness.
